[EN] Etihad Abu Dhabi Free Stopover: Check the Final Price Before You Book! (Family Experience)
I was searching for round-trip tickets between Barcelona and Seoul for this summer, comparing options like Qatar Airways and Etihad Airways. While browsing Etihad's official website, I spotted a very tempting offer: "Free up to 2 nights stopover."
The hotel options looked stunning, and I thought, "When else would we get a chance to visit Abu Dhabi?" I was even considering visiting the famous Louvre Abu Dhabi.
Since we expect to have much heavier luggage on the way back, I chose to stay for 2 nights on our way to Seoul. However, after carefully comparing the prices, I noticed a significant difference in the total amount for our family of four.
💰 Price Comparison (2 Adults, 2 Teens):
Without Stopover: Approx. €2,323
With 2-Night Stopover: Approx. €2,720
The difference was about €400. Technically, Etihad might offer the hotel stay for free, but for us as consumers, selecting the stopover changed the flight fare. In the end, it felt exactly like paying €200 per night (€400 total) for the hotel stay.
If the price had been exactly the same, we definitely would have gone for it. But considering the extra €400 for the flights, plus local expenses like museum tickets and dining for four, we realized we could easily spend an additional €1,000.
So, we decided to pass on the Abu Dhabi visit this time. The Free Stopover is a great opportunity, but if you are traveling on a budget, make sure to check the final total price before and after selecting the stopover option!
